Beginner’s Course in Yoga
This 6-week course provides students with the guidance and tools to start their own yoga journey. You will gain a familiarity and comfort in around 25 of the main yoga asanas (postures) as practiced in Hatha Yoga. We will work on these in short flowing vinyasas, or sequences, as we work towards completing a full Surya Namaskara (Sun Salute sequence). Some preliminary pranayama (breathing) techniques will usually follow the asana sequence. This will start increasingyour understanding of the body/breath connection, helping to harness prana(energy) in the body and use the breath to bring focus and attention within.Periods of guided relaxation and meditation will balance each class, as students gain insights intohow these practices can help calm the mind, reduce stress and increase clarity and vitality.
In addition, each class also offers students an introduction to some of the yogic philosophies to deepen your understanding of how yoga is not just a physical practice, but a balance of physical, emotional and spiritual practices. It is through this balance and regular practice, that yoga becomes a very rewarding lifelong journey.
This course is suitable for beginners and intermediate students who wish to refresh their yoga practice.
